What’s your word for 2021?

I’ve tried for several years to have a “one little word” (thanks so much to Ali Edwards at www.aliedwards.com for her inspiration) but it was just like a New Years resolution – after the first month, I would completely forget about it!  I’ve never finished a whole year using my “word” as my motivation and I’ve been trying since 2015.  I can’t even remember what the words I’ve chosen in the past but I do remember last year’s word “JOY”!

Joy Comes In The Morning

When I took the photo above, I was about to take it out of the packaging. Then, I decided not to. I wanted you to see that I never did anything with this beautiful glittered word “JOY” by Heidi Swapp from American Crafts. I can honestly say that I lasted longer than previous years.

After about the 5th month of 2020, I completely forgot about my word for the year and found it hard to find very much “Joy” during this COVID pandemic. Oh I know that God promises “joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5) but I just couldn’t see it or find it!  This morning I was searching on www.biblegateway.com for verses on “Joy” and I found this verse about “Joy”. It truly convicted me that I have allowed Satan to rob me of my “joy” from the Lord.

Jeremiah 25:8a and verse 10 states that the Lord said to the people of Judah… “Because you haven’t listened to my words… I will silence the sounds of joy and laughter and the voices of the bride and the bridegroom.  Yes, I will silence the millstones and snuff out the lamplight.”

I had allowed Satan to “snuff out my lamplight”!

So I had decided that I wouldn’t have a “word” for this year but God had other plans!

Let Go and Let God!

During the middle of the night just a few days ago, God woke me up and said “Focus”!  I must admit that I tried to push it aside but I kept waking up all night with this word “Focus” on my mind.  So I got up early (with enthusiasm, I might add) and started researching this word “Focus”.  Sure enough, it’s what I need for this coming year of 2021.

So this year I need to focus on:

  • My Faith

  • My Family

  • My Friendships

  • My Health and Fitness

  • How I spend my time (just to name a few)

I’m sharing this so that everyone can keep me accountable this year.  I’ve started a journal, pinned a bunch of “Focus” quotes on Pinterest, looked up scriptures and I’m ready to begin!  I hope that you will follow me on my journey of staying “Focused”!

What’s your word for this year?
