How To Make Your Own Embellishments

Have you ever been scrapbooking or working in your planner and just needed that little added something?  You can’t find anything in your stash.  You really don’t want to run to the store to purchase a whole package of embellishments, stickers or a pad of paper…. you just need to make a few!!

Digital Files

Did you know that you can purchase digital scrapbooking kits, embellishments or paper from some of the popular brands like Simple Stories, Echo Paper or Carta Bella?  This way you can print what you want and not waste the rest of the package!

I purchased the “Simply Vintage My Valentine” from Simple Stories.  I printed what I needed on white cardstock.  After printing, I sent the cardstock through my Silhouette Cutter but you can just “fussy cut” them by hand. (Fussy Cut is just cutting around the image and leaving a bit of white space…not being precise!)

Make it Your Own

One advantage to purchasing the digital files is that you can make the embellishments the size that you need them for the project.  Plus, maybe you need two of something…just print two! Also, I was able to reverse the way the red rose was facing…making it the way I needed it for the layout!

After I printed the embellishments that I needed, the fun began…putting things together.  I started arranging items together and added a few doilies and die cuts of hearts and borders.  I also stitched a few of the items together to add a bit of texture.  The Vintage Rose Distress Oxide Ink matched perfectly with the die cuts that I used to change a white tag into a pink tag.

Other Sources of Digital Files

I’ve also purchased a lot of digital files on SnapClickSupply.  They carry Echo Park, Carta Bella, Prima Marketing and many others.  Also, if you have a subscription to Silhouette Design Store, they have a lot of print and cut files available as well.

I’d love to see what you’ve created. Also, if you have any questions, just send me a message and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
