I just love fall and creating crafts with pumpkins, leaves and acorns.  Last night I did a Facebook Live and had so much fun demonstrating these two projects using my free printable “Pumpkin Patch”. 

The first craft is really easy.  I purchased a Dollar Tree Fall Sign and then as they say on “Say Yes To The Dress”….I jacked it up!!! 

I wanted to stain the frame a darker brown instead of the natural.  I tried to use Waverly’s Inspiration Way - Antique which I purchased at Walmart. There was a gloss coating on the frame so it didn’t take the stain very well.  I gave the frame a light sanding…you have to be gentle because remember, this was only $1.00!

After I sanded the frame I added brown acrylic paint and wiped most of it off with a baby wipe.  This gave the Waverly’s Inspiration Way - Antique something to hold on to. I applied the Antique Stain to the frame, let it sit for a minute or so and then wiped it off with a baby wipe. After two coats, I finally had the color that I was going for.

I reduced the size of my printable to around 5” x 5” and printed on white cardstock.  The sentiment that comes with the frame comes out and I attached my “Pumpkin Patch” sign and put it back into the frame.

I got stain on the wooden beads (because I was in a hurry and I’m messy) and I didn’t want the beads stained but left natural.  So I had a bag of beads from Michaels and redid the wood bead hanger.  The last part was to add a junk bow and the project was done!  I just love how this little sign turned out!

Printing on Canvas…Who knew?

Did you know that you could print on canvas?  I had no idea but thought ‘let’s give it a try” because I wanted something different that just cardstock! 

It worked perfectly.  I already had a pad of canvas paper by Strathmore that I purchased from Michaels and I cut it to 8 ½” x 11”. I ran it through my Canon printer which is pretty old and it looked great! Easy Peasy!

I wanted the canvas to look like a banner with wooden bars at the top and bottom.  I cut four 12” paint sticks to 8 ½” and gave them a stain of the Waverly’s Inspiration Way - Antique. 

I used craft glue to adhere the stain bars to the bottom and the top of the canvas (one on the front and one on the back).  I made a hanger out of jute and placed it between the two stained bars on the top.  I wished that I had just hot glued the jute to the back of the wooden stick because the bulk made it hard to get the two bars to glue together.  Live and learn!

I cut a small dowel rod to 8 ½” inches and stained just the ends because I knew that’s all that would show when I was finished. 

I tore 1” strips of fabric (about 18 to 20” long) and attached them to the dowel rod with a slip knot. 

I used about 15-16 strips of fabric.

After I hot glued the dowel to the bottom of the wooden pieces, I trimmed the fabric strips to about 6” long. The length of the strips is totally up to you.

That’s was all that was left and this project was done!
