Let’s Get Started

Now that you have all of your materials, it's time to move on to the next step and start tracing your design onto the aluminum sheet pan.

Step 2: Trace Your Design

With all of your materials in hand, it's time to get started on creating your patriotic front door decor. Trace your design onto the aluminum sheet pan with either a Sharpie or use a sharp tool like the end of a paint brush.

You can find a template in the FREEBIES section or freehand draw your design onto a sheet of paper and then trace it onto the pan.

Once you have outlined all of your desired shapes and patterns, you're ready to move on to the next step.

Step 3: Cut Out Your Flowers

After you have traced your flower petals onto the aluminum pan, it's time to move onto the cutting stage.

First cut off the rim of the aluminum sheet pan and be careful because the edges of the sheet pan are sharp.  Using scissors or tin snips, carefully cut along the traced lines.

I cut out 10 large petals and 6-7 small petals.

Step 4:  Painting The Petals

Paint the petals using Chalk Paint.

  • Red - 4 large petals

  • White - 3 large petals and 4-5 small petals (after I made my door hanger, I wished that I had made one more small striped petal)

  • Blue - 3 large petals and 2 small petals

I decoupaged the stripes from patriotic napkin onto the smaller white petals  You could either leave them white or paint stripes.

Step 4: Painting the Wooden Round

I painted the back of the 8 inch “hello” wooden round with Rustoleum White Chalk Paint. I cut out “Land of the FREE because of the BRAVE” on my Cricut Die-Cutting Machine. Be sure and layer the phrase the right way! I say this from experience. I had to read it a few times before I finally realized what was wrong!

I did have trouble getting the vinyl to adhere to the wooden round. When I cut out a new phrase, I added a layer of Mod Podge to the top and the vinyl phrase adhered a lot better.

Step 5: Assemble Your Design

Now that you have all of your flower petal cut out and painted, it's time to assemble your design. Lay everything out on the large plate and make sure you are happy with the placement of all the petals.

Once you are happy with your design, it's time to use hot glue and E6000 (if you are hanging outside) to attach each flower to a large plate.  Apply a small amount of glue to the back of the flower and press it firmly onto the pan. Hold it in place for a few seconds to ensure that it sets properly.  Be careful because the hot glue makes the aluminum sheet pan hot.

With your design now assembled, you're ready to move onto the next step and add the finishing touches to your patriotic front door display.

Step 6: Add the Finishing Touches

Add a ribbon or jute rope are a hanger on the back of your Dollar Tree Aluminum Sheet Pan Flower.

You can also add a bow to the top or bottom of your design to give it a more polished look. Choose a ribbon that complements the colors of your flowers and gives your display a patriotic touch.

To make a hanger on the back of the Patriotic Flower, I added about a 10” piece of jute, used E6000 and hot glue. I then glued a 1” x 4” strip of cardboard over the jute twine to add some support to the hanger.

Step 7: Hang Your Patriotic Door Hanger

Once you've found the perfect spot, it's time to hang your door hanger. There are a few different options for hanging it up, you can use adhesive strips, suction cup hooks, or even a wreath hanger.

With your new door hanger proudly displayed, you can sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Your front door now looks festive and  inviting with this Patriotic Dollar Tree Aluminum Sheet Pan Door Hanger. It's the perfect way to kick off any patriotic celebration!,
