DIY Spring Sign: Turn 3 Dollar Tree Arrows Into Stunning Yard Decor
As Spring approaches, many of us are eager to spruce up our outdoor spaces with festive decor. But with prices on seasonal items often soaring, creating a welcoming Spring atmosphere can seem daunting. Fear not! In this post, I’ll show you how to elevate your yard with a stunning DIY Easter sign using just 3 Dollar Tree arrows and 4 Wooden Spring Shapes. Gather Your Supplies:
3 Dollar Tree Arrows
4 Spring Wooden Icons/Shapes
Acrylic Paint (FolkArt Aqua, Clover and Daffodil Yellow, Americana Razzle Berry, Spiced Pumpkin, White and Black
Dollar Tree Round Sponge Brush
Paint Brushes
Raffia
Yardstick or wooden stake
Paint Your Arrows
Once you have gathered your supplies, it's time to get creative and paint your arrows and shapes. Choose your favorite Spring colors and paint each arrow with a different hue to create a vibrant and festive look.
On the blue arrow, I added circle swirls using a Posca Paint Pen in White.
On the pink sign, I added stripes of white using a dry brush technique. I had originally thought I would like this one plain since it had two egg shapes but it just looked like it was missing something…so I added the stripes.
On the yellow sign, I used a Dollar Tree Round Sponge and created circles. After the circles were dry, I outlined each circle with the Faber Castell Artist Pen in Black. Don’t try to be too precise when outlining your circles.
For each sign, I used the Faber Castell Artist Pen in Black and outlined the arrows and all the wooden shapes.
Paint Your Spring Wooden Shapes
For the eggs, I used a heat tool and removed the shells from the eggs. This made it easier to paint. I left one shell off and added one shell back to the egg when the paint was dry.
The carrots I painted orange and green. I then added white stripes and dots. When the green was dry, I dry brushed a darker shade of green in an upward motion.
The cute little bunny, I painted white and when it was dry, I dry brushed gray on top plus added a bit of pink to the ears. I used a white felt flower that I had made for another project and gave it a trim. Then I added pink pastel chalk to the top of the felt. You could easily just dry brush a bit of pink onto the tail.
When everything was dry
I outlined all the shapes with a Black Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pen (Fine)
Attach each shape to the arrow using Hot Glue and E6000. You could also, use a staple gun.
Add the words, PATCH, FREE and HUNT). I used a Posca Paint Pen in Black (.9mm) and then outlined the letters with a Posca Paint Pen in White (.7mm). Mixed up the font styles to add a bit of whimsy!
Let your imagination run wild as you bring your DIY Easter sign to life with colorful paint and charming icons. You could also use stencils or decoupage napkins on each wooden shape!
Assemble Your Easter Sign
First, I sealed the front and backs of arrows with 2 coats of Matte Sealer by Rustoleum and made sure they were completely dry before adding them to my yardstick. (Be sure and use the spray outside because it does have an odor).
Now that your arrows and icons are painted and sealed, it's time to assemble your Easter sign. Arrange the arrows on the yardstick or stake to your liking.
Once you are happy with the layout, attach the arrows using a strong adhesive or nails. I used E6000 Clear Glue with a little hot glue. The hot glue helps set the arrows in place while the E6000 glue dries.
Add a raffia bow to the top of the yardstick and your Dollar Tree Spring Outdoor sign is ready to be displayed outside.
