You'll be able to add a pop of color and functionality to your space in no time.

Materials Needed

  • A Board (34” long x 9 1/4” wide)

  • Wood Stain or Waverly Antique Wax

  • Paint brush

  • Baby Wipes

  • Chapstick

  • Chalk or Acrylic Paints

  • Vinyl for tropical shares and letter (I cut using my Cricut)

  • E6000 Glue

  • Flip flops in 6 different colors

  • Over the door Hanger from Dollar Tree

  • Sealer Spray

  • Hooks

Preparing the Board

  1. Start by staining your board. To achieve the desired color, use a baby wipe or paper towel to wipe off the extra stain. Allow this layer to dry completely before moving to the next step.

  2. To create a distressed look, use a chapstick (any kind) to make marks and lines where you want the stain to show through.

  3. Paint over the chapstick marks with either chalk or acrylic paint. Allow this layer to dry, then gently remove the paint on top of the chapstick This will reveal the stained wood underneath, giving a distressed effect

Decorate with Vinyl Shapes and Acrylic Paint

  1. Cut out several different tropical shapes and the letters ‘T O W E L S” from vinyl using a Cricut or Silhouette machine.

  2. Place the tropical shapes randomly on the board. To create clean images make sure that the stencil in sealed on all the edges. This will prevent the paint from seeping under the stencil.

Seal The Board before putting it outside

If you plan on putting your Flip Flop Towel holder outside, be sure and seal with a Clear Spray.

Attaching the Flip Flops

Arrange the Flip Flops in a left and right pattern. I used six different styles of Flip Flops that I purchased from Dollar Tree. Glue them onto the board with E6000.

Add The ‘T O W E L S” lettering

I cut the word TOWELS in black vinyl and added each letter to the bottom of flip flops.

Add the Hooks for the Towels

I purchased hooks from Amazon and screwed each one under the flip flop.

Final Touches

With a staple gun, I attached the over-the-door hanger that I purchased from Dollar Tree onto the back of the Flip Flop Towel Holder. I hung the Flip Flop Beach Towel Holder over our fence and it has worked great! No more wet towels all over the house!
