Hippity Hoppity...let's make an adorable bunny
Supplies Needed:
White Felt
One White Pipe Cleaner (cut into two pieces)
Acrylic Paint
Small Shader Paintbrush
Hot Glue
Instructions:
Paint 2 wooden oval plaques with white acrylic or chalk paint. I painted both sides of the wooden pieces because I was afraid that you would be able to see part of the unpainted backside when I glued them together.
Paint 2 hearts white
New - Old Painting Technique
I didn’t want the bunny to be plain white. So I remembered a technique that I learned over 30 years ago in a Tole Painting Class. I have no idea what it’s called but it adds just a bit of color on the edges. Using a wet small shader brush, drag just the long side edge of the brush through the paint. Then paint around the edges with only the side of the brush that you dragged through the paint. Be sure to keep your brush wet. I also added the shading to the 2 oval and heart pieces.
Add the face using the template in the FREEBIES section or draw your own.
Draw the face using a Frixion pen (the most magical thing ever). This step isn’t necessary, but I wanted to make sure that I put the eyes and nose in the right place and it’s really cool to use a heat tool and watch the ink disappear.
Use a sharpie or paint pen to color in the eyes. When it’s dry, add a white dot at the top of each eye.
Paint the nose dark pink or use a paint marker.
Using watered down paint or chalk, add two pink cheeks.
Add a line for the mouth and a few whiskers.
Cut out 2 bunny ears and 2 bunny arms from white felt.
Add pink paint or chalk to the middle of the ears.
Add pink paint around the edges of the arms. (I used my fingers and watered the paint down a bit)
Hot glue the pipe cleaner around each bunny ear so that they will stand up.
Glue to the back of the bunny.
Hot glue the arms to the back of the bunny body and then add either the carrot (Dollar Tree) or an Easter egg. (I added a bit of Warm Sunset by DecoArt Americana to the carrot so that it didn’t look so bright)
Sandwich the 2 wooden plaques together using hot glue or any quick drying craft glue. If you don’t have hot glue, you can always use E6000 and then use bull clips to hold it together until it’s dry.
Hot Glue the two white hearts to the bottom of the body. This takes a bit of patience waiting for the glue to dry. I also found that adding a small strip of popsicle stick to the back of the bunny gives the legs more support.
