Step One:
To transform a folded paperback book into a bewitching Halloween witch, the first step is to fold the book into a witch shape. This process may seem daunting at first, but with a little patience and creativity, you'll be amazed at the enchanting result.
Tear off the covers on the book.
Tear about 175-200 pages - leaving the spine intact
Fold your paperback book into a witch shape
Remember to keep the folds neat and even, ensuring that each page aligns with the one before it. This will help create a cohesive and visually pleasing shape for your witch. I usually do this step while watching television.
Step Two
Either spray paint or paint the outside of the book.
Step Three
Make the arms and paint up to about ½” at the ends (these are the hands)
Step Four
Hot glue the 1 ½” wooden round ball to the top of the paperback book
Step Five
Add the hair (either Doll Hair or Pipe Cleaners)
Step Six
Add either buttons or any embellishments you choose
Step Seven
Make the Witch’s Broom
Paint the dowel rod or wooden skewer either brown or black
Take about 2-3 pieces of raffia (you can also use strips of the paperback book instead of raffia) and fold in half. Hot glue about a a 2” to 2 ½” loop around the dowel rod
Glue as much of the raffia as you want (the more raffia - the fuller looking the broom is)
Step Eight
Hot glue the broom to the paperback book witch’s hands
Step Nine
Make the paperback book witch’s Hat. Click here for the Pattern
Cut out the two pieces from any color felt that you want
Make the cone shape and using a piece of chalk, make the circle of the cone onto the brim of the hat
Cut a slit in the circle and cut triangles from the center to the edge of the chalked circle
Add hot glue and press the cone onto the brim of the hat
Step Ten
Hot glue the witch’s hat and add a ribbon around the edge of the hat.
You can also add a cape, collar of lace or how ever you’d like to dress up your paperback book folded witch!
Transforming a folded paperback book into a bewitching Halloween witch is a fantastic way to unleash your creativity and indulge in a fun craft project. By gathering the necessary supplies, folding the book into a witch shape, and adding a hat, and personalized decorations, you can create a unique masterpiece that will captivate and enchant all who see it.
Remember, don't be afraid to let your imagination run wild and add your own personal touch to your witch. This is your opportunity to showcase your creativity and make it truly one-of-a-kind. Once your witch is complete, proudly display it in your home or gift it to a loved one as a thoughtful Halloween.
